This is the logo of our school. This
logo describes in symbols our martial arts style. It also shows some of our
traditional values because of our choice of emblems in this logo.
The first and most obvious symbols in our patch are the colors: red, white, blue, gold and black. Red in the martial arts is defined as the blood of all mankind. No matter what color you are on the outside, were all the same on the inside. White is the color of enlightenment. Blue is the color of water. Water represents patience. No matter how large the boulder in a stream, eventually the water will wear it down. Gold is for the "Golden Age of China." A thousand years of peace and prosperity. Black in karate is the void, or the unknown. It is something that we all face and challenge every day. Emblems on the Patch The emblem placed at the end of the word Kempo is the Tao Water Symbol. As water takes the shape of any container it fills, so should we be patient as we fill ourselves with knowledge. An American flag is there to show everybody that this is an American style and we are proud of the country in which we live. The fist at the bottom of our logo represents our style of Kempo karate. The last symbol is the actual circle everything is placed in. This represents our "chi" or circle of energy. Patch Wording Every word on the patch also has a special meaning. Shaolin is translated as "the temple at the base of a mountain" or perhaps "the temple at the edge of the forest." Kempo means "being able to defend myself with any part of my body." The word Karate can be defined as "empty or open handed combat, to fight without weapons." This logo was designed by Mrs. Varrato, one of your Chief Instructors, and the help of many others. It gives a fair representation of what our school is all about. Wear This Patch Proudly! |
